The Fantasy Football Scoutcast
More than a decade ago Fantasy Football Scout launched its first first podcast – the legendary ScoutCast. Since then it has expanded to include an even wider range of expert opinion, stats and laughs to help you sniff out the likeliest clean sheets and best buys. Fantasy Football Scout’s podcast family has grown further in recent years to include captaincy and team news editions each Gameweek. Meanwhile, our regular Breakfast Club episodes add further analysis ahead of each deadline. There’s also our Meet the Manager series to check out – which sees us chat to Fantasy managers with a stellar track record of success.

The Scoutcast trio of Joe, Andy and Az are back for one more time this season to assess the highs, the lows and lessons they should probably learn.

This episode is dominated by the community’s questions on a raft of topics from deadlines to reclassifications.

With a chaotic final Gameweek deadline for many, they start off with tackling the difficulties around timing a deadline right in a global game, where not everyone is awake to make last minute moves. Its an issue which is further complicated in the 24-hour worldwide social media news culture that has emerged in recent years.

The proliferation of Fantasy Premier League manager numbers is also pondered. Is a high finish trickier than ever with so many engaged players enjoying the game.

Lessons learned features prominently. What pivotal moments in the season made them think differently about how they play the game. For Joe the importance of double Gameweeks being married up with chips is a particular issue that will influence him next season.

Players to target next season also takes up a large part of this mammoth hour and a half episode. This discussion takes in reclassification of players like Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, those that are certain of a price hike as well as the potential low priced gems to target.

The five-substitute rule and the potential for an early blank Gameweek, and possibly a double too, are other additions to their chat.

They also assess how their traditionally goal strewn Gameweek 38 went and finish the show with some powerful words from Shirtless about family and FPL.

The Scoutcast will return along with a host of other video and podcast content for the next campaign. For the next campaign Joe will be joined by Az as a regular co-host, with a different guest each week to help them make sense of each Gameweek’s inevitable twists and turns.

What is it like to be within a whisker of winning Fantasy Premier League? Joe and Az find out when they are joined by special guest Alexander (@TooGoodFPL), who is in third place and just nine points from the summit.

This latest Scoutcast episode devotes itself to planning for Gameweek 38, as this longest of campaigns draws to a close.

Alexander reveals what its like to be so high up the rankings and the players he is considering for the end of the season as he bids for the FPL crown. With chess champion Magnus Carlsen hot on his heels in fourth place and just 30 points separating the top 10, there is plenty for him to ponder ahead of Sunday’s matches.

There’s alot on the line for all managers too, be it overall rank, mini-league glory or just the chance to own David Silva before he departs the Premier League.

While Joe and Alexander don’t have a Free Hit to play they can at least dream and run through the players that those lucky enough to still have that chip should bring in.

Az is one of those lucky ones. But with a wealth of choice from the ranks of Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and more, deploying this chip is not easy.

Elsewhere, Joe laments on his poor post-lockdown Bench Boost strategy and there’s some Rough with the Smooth tales of woe and joy to look at.

Premium forwards are back on the menu for our Scoutcast trio as Joe, Andy and Az look ahead to Gameweek 37+ and try to pick some differentials to help Fantasy Premier League managers make a late push for mini-league glory.

While some of their tips are certainly bargains, they think this could be the week to turn to some forgotten pricier options, who have been sold by many in recent weeks.

Up top, Spurs hitman Harry Kane and Arsenal talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang look primed for investment with kind fixtures for the run in.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s main men are also under scrutiny. The underlying statistics point to a Mohammed Salah haul on the horizon. But are the Premier League champions still motivated?

Recorded ahead of Thursday’s matches all three of our Scoutcast regulars are full of hope after an average to bad Gameweek 36+ so far. To describe Joe’s Bench Boost this time around as laughable barely does this sorry use of a chip justice.

Our crew take a look at clean sheets for the final two matches, Andy takes his turn to name his favourite differential for the run in and also reveals an exciting membership offer.

The show finishes off as usual with their transfer and captaincy plans for Gameweek 37+. There are certainly plenty of differential and forgotten premium picks to consider.

In Gameweek 35+ a raft of differentials topped the scoring charts in one of the most polarising set of Fantasy Premier League matches for some time.

It seemed fitting that this episode’s line up features both the haves and have-nots. Andy and Az can are able to luxuriate in their Michail Antonio haul, following the West Ham differential’s four goal heroics. Meanwhile, Antonio-less Joe is forced to settle for FPL crumbs, like a save point from Watford stopper Ben Foster.

In a low scoring week for many sometimes the best pick-me-up is to move onto to the next Gameweek and the transfers and plans ahead. Chief among their topics for Gameweek 36+ is the merits of bringing in Southampton forward Danny Ings. The former Liverpool striker is in sensational form and at last has the fixtures to match, with Brighton’s porous defence next in his sights.

Our trio also try to play Pep roulette as they attempt to second guess the line up of a Manchester City outfit that has one eye on the FA Cup. Predicting the best scorers is only half the battle. Finding the players who will earn the most minutes is perhaps the bigger challenge.

Some managers, such as Az and Joe, still have chips to play. But they are not happy having to use them amid rotation fears and in a single Gameweek. Could Gameweek 36+ be the week Az jettisons his Free Hit and Joe deploys his Bench Boost?

Elsewhere, there are clean sheets to mull over and Joe takes his turn to pick a differential, after mixed results recently. Ironically, Antonio turned out to be a great shout for Joe shortly after the restart.

Finally, there are transfers to consider and captains to choose. Will Gameweek 36+ be another collection of matches to see widely differing results?

High impact moves take centre stage on this latest Scoutcast episode, with Lateriser joining Joe and Andy to discuss how this theory can help propel managers up the Fantasy Premier League rankings.

Put simply his theory targets captainable players with a high points ceiling who can be transferred in and out depending on fixtures.

With Golden Boot race leader Jamie Vardy taking on whipping boys Bournemouth, a gilt-edged opportunity to march up the rankings has emerged in Gameweek 35+. Well, in theory at least.

Also on the show Chelsea’s midfield marauders, Willian and Christian Pulisic, are a hot topic of conversation amongst the FPL community for good reason. They can't stop scoring. But is it too late to invest in the Blues?

Meanwhile, the state of play regarding chip use comes under scrutiny.

Our trio also reveal how they are getting on so far in Gameweek 34, in which Andy reanacts the notorious ‘Granny’s miffed’ section, in honour of the Scoutcast’s first co-host Granville. Clean sheet avoiding keeper Ben Foster barely even gets a mention in Andy’s rant, compared to a certain Sheffield defender who can’t stop racking up bench points and Liverpool’s own Golden Boot contender.

Lateriser takes his turn to pick a differential. There are clean sheets over the season run in to focus on and our Scoutcast trio reveal their transfer and captain plans.

Fantasy Premier League managers face a tough choice over the season run-in regarding players they have trusted for returns for most of the campaign.

Well-owned and usually reliable players, like Raul Jiminez at Wolves and Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, are starting to look laboured in matches. Speaking of labour, Mrs Jiminez is due to give birth soon, to give his owners further anxiety of starts, albeit for understandable reasons.

Joe is joined by Az and Andy to ponder what to do with ‘broken shields’ like Jiminez and Salah, who are no longer protecting FPL managers’ ranks as they have done previously.

Elsewhere, there is an array of low-owned and kindly priced ‘swords’ already helping to boost ranks. Young starlets such as Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood and City’s Phil Foden are  attracting interest from our trio.

Joe and Andy are considering the previously unthinkable and ditching the likes of Salah. Az has gone one step further, jettisoning the Liverpool forward already to stock up on assets from the Manchester clubs. This latest episode considers the ideal triple ups from the Red and Blue halves of Manchester.

Spurs have an enticing fixture against whipping boys Bournemouth in Gameweek 34. What can possible go wrong transferring in and captaining Jose Mourinho’s troops in an on paper easy fixture? Our trio weigh up the merits of cherry picking defences over the next few Gameweeks.

Az takes his turn to pick a differential. There are clean sheets over the season run in to focus on and our Scoutcast trio reveal their transfer and captain plans.

With just six Gameweeks remaining time is running out for a surge up the rankings or a toppling of mini-league rivals.

But it’s not too late to get ahead, as our Scoutcast trio, of Joe, Let’s Talk FPL’s Andy and FPL Family’s Lee, find out.

In their search for a respectable end to the season they have got their eye on differentials. They reveal the low owned players they are keen to bring in as well as the strategic ways Fantasy Premier League managers can steal a march.

Tapping in to Manchester United’s plethora of options is certainly a viable tactic. The Red Devils are among teams examined in the search for mini-league glory.

Meanwhile, getting the right third striker could be key to success. However, should we be basing this criteria on price alone?

Joe does not let the episode go by without mentioning his decision to retain and captain Arsenal’s double digit FPL hero Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Nor does Lee want his fellow hosts to forget that his team, Liverpool, are the newly crowned Premier League champions.

One community member's roller-coaster of a Gameweek over his captaincy and bench decisions gets an airing.

Elsewhere, there are clean sheets to consider and our trio reveal their differing plans for attempting a rank climb in Gameweek 33+. Will Joe stick to his dullard plan? Or change his mind for more exciting options at the 11th hour?

Joe and David are back to discuss who the best Captain option is for our FPL Gameweek 33+ teams.

With lots of top teams facing 'on-paper' easy opposition there is plenty of choice. But will rotation scupper their best laid plans?
