The Fantasy Football Scoutcast
More than a decade ago Fantasy Football Scout launched its first first podcast – the legendary ScoutCast. Since then it has expanded to include an even wider range of expert opinion, stats and laughs to help you sniff out the likeliest clean sheets and best buys. Fantasy Football Scout’s podcast family has grown further in recent years to include captaincy and team news editions each Gameweek. Meanwhile, our regular Breakfast Club episodes add further analysis ahead of each deadline. There’s also our Meet the Manager series to check out – which sees us chat to Fantasy managers with a stellar track record of success.

Meet the Manager is back, as Joe once again catches up with a Fantasy Premier League manager with an incredible track record of success.

This time Joe meets Graeme Sumner, who is known by many in the Fantasy Football Scout community as Gregor.

With six top 10,000 finishes, including three within the top 1,000, Graeme is no stranger to ending a season strongly.

He also has experience of being within a whisker of winning FPL, after ending 2016/17 in 29th spot.

During this latest Meet the Manager chat, Graeme reveals his strategies for success. This includes being aggressive in pursuit of a good captaincy option, especially low owned assets. With hat-trick heroes Santi Cazorla and Yaya Toure among his most successful captaincies in the past, Joe is obviously keen to find out who Graeme plans to hand the armband to in the coming weeks.

Joe discovers the importance of the eye test for Graeme, as well as his tactics for avoiding the growing ‘noise’ on social media and elsewhere as millions more join FPL each year.

Finally, Graeme reveals his Gameweek 5 plans, with more low owned gems in his thought as he targets another strong finish in his already stellar career.

Joe and Az are joined by Karam to try to make sense of a bizarre opening four Gameweeks of the Fantasy Premier League season.

With Aston Villa and West Ham notching surprise wins last time out, against Liverpool and Leicester respectively, the most recent set of fixtures were particularly odd.

Armed with Fantasy Football Scout Members area statistics and information they use the international break to investigate why certain defences are performing better. Could the ‘new normal’ of this socially distanced, fan free campaign be a factor?

Top attacks are also considered, with Tottenham’s revival as a goal scoring force among issues picked out by Joe.

Meanwhile, Karam’s focus is on the best strikers to target. From premium picks to budget buys, there is plenty of choice in 2020/21.

Az ponders the merits of expensive defenders, when so many cheaper alternatives are delivering for FPL managers. His section of the Scoutcast also includes a shocking fact involving the most creative defenders so far.

Elsewhere, there’s another extended rough with the smooth section, as results conspire to bring joy, and certainly woe, to many in the community.

This week’s focus is firmly on the season so far and whether there are any lessons to learn for our trio. Next week’s episode will focus in more detail on Gameweek 5 transfer and captaincy plans, especially as most international fixtures will have been completed by then.
